She would prosper in family and friends. She finally received the grudging recognition that she is one of Charleston's hero's (recognition which came too late for most of the other 11 nurses which stood with her). However that recognition arrived only decades after those great events had been absorbed into Charleston's distorted story of it self.  Louise never received the back pay she was promised when the MUSC hospital strike was settled.
